Golte or Mozirska planina is a lonely karst plateau, surrounded on all sides by deposits of impermeable volcanic rocks. The central part of the mountain is limestone, which is why karst phenomena such as gutters, sinkholes and karst caves were formed in it: abysses, horizontal caves, icicles and snow caves. The most famous is the Icicle, which, due to the eternal snow at the bottom of the cave, once served as a natural refrigerator. The cave can be found along the road from Mozirska koča to Smrekovac.
Below, on the slope of Okenc above the upper station of the cable car, the Alpine Garden, the highest botanical garden of its kind (alpinetum) in Europe, stretches over two hectares. There are over a hundred species of alpine plants, among them we can find the only habitat of the auricula (Primula auricula), which blooms most beautifully in May. A tour of the garden takes a good hour, but it is also the starting point for hikes to the surrounding peaks of Boskovec, Smrekovec and Raduha.
