On the Main Square of Rečica ob Savinji, there is one of the 14 still preserved shame stones or prangers in Slovenia. It is a two-meter-high stone pillar with a characteristic cap. An iron ring was placed in it, to which the convict was tied: usually on Sundays or holidays, when several people could gather to shame him.
Most often, they punished beaters, clowns, thieves and adulteresses. Defamatory punishments occupied an important place among the penal means of the lower judiciary, and prangers were used from the 12th to the 19th centuries.
