The Baroque church in Gornje Grad is considered to be the largest in Slovenia in terms of volume. At the junction of the nave and the transept is an elliptical dome. A special feature is the furnishing of the side altars with oils by Johann Martin Kremser Schmidt and the Chapel of the Holy Sepulchre. In the lobby there are Renaissance tombstones of bishops. The courtyard in front of the church is decorated with benches and a fountain.
In 1140, a Benedictine monastery was erected, of which the walls and a pair of towers have been preserved. Around 1500, the bishops of Ljubljana arranged a summer residence with a cathedral in it. The church was rebuilt several times, and a new one - in the shape of a Latin cross - was built in the middle of the 18th century. Viewing is possible every day.
